[Error: unknown template qotd]My first concert ever was NIRVANA at the Mecca Arena in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on October 26, 1993.

It was epic before epic was epic.

Jack has writers block?!?!??
How'd *that* happen??

Seriously, it seems like you've always got something to blog about and usually it's pretty interesting -- I've got serious writers' envy! Good to know you're fallible too though. ;) :)

Nope, no writer's block - just used it as a meme to show off my NIRVANA :D

Ooooh....shivery!

I never got to see them live.

It was a good show. Niorvana live was everything I hoped it would be. They played all my favorite songs (not hard, since I like basically every song:P Jawbreaker and Mudhoney opened. I had two people's blood on me when I got out of the pit. Someone tried to sell me acid in the bathroom. It was a crazy good time.

Fantastic. Concerts really aren't the same anymore. *wistful sigh*

I'd have to say the best concert I attended is a huge toss up between Lollapalooza in Ferris, TX (The Ramones AND Rancid) and a Pantera New Years show which was at a covered ice rink. The people on the floor tore up the boards and we ice moshed during the show. Crazy.

I saw Rancid in Milwaukee as well. Good show, violent of course - some punk jammed his thumb in my eye and stole my contact lens.

Now, if there was a meme about my all-time craziest, epic rave, that's a whole 'nother story!

By the time I was of concert age (according to my parents), Kurt Cobain was dead. I loved Nirvana and still do. I love that you still have the stub.

Let's see, in 1993, I was 16 and I didn't even ask my parents. They were pretty uninvolved and I don't think an armed SWAT team would have kept me away.

I think LJ should stop accepting questions submitted by 12-year old girls who think Hannah Montana should stand besides Woodstock.

My craziest concert experience was the Offspring in Fribourg, Switzerland. My shoe came off in the mosh pit, and someone advised me to throw it at the stage, which in the heat of the moment I did, thus almost taking out one of the band members.

I never lost a shoe int he pit, but at a Rancid concert, some punk shoved his finger in my eye and stole my contact lens. Fucker.

Hah! I'm fairly certain the Hannah Montana concert was there as sarcasm.

At least....I hope so.

i think it's hilarious hannah montana is included as "legendary" in that question. I hope that's meant as a joke.

my ~epic~ concert experience was bonnaroo 2007. the flaming lips, the white stripes...oh yeah.

I think it's meant to placate to the youngins on LJ who never heard of Woodstock :P

I keep wanting to make to to a Bonnaroo or a Coachella, but haven't been able to swing it yet. The lineups are always so amazing.

That's beyond epic. Wow. It's so awesome that you kept the stub.

I thought so :D

I kept the stubs to almost every concert I've ever been to :)

I wish I were of age to see Nirvana. Fuck. Glad you had the opportunity to though.

It was destiny, really. The girl I sat behind in Physics came in one day very excited she had just gotten tickets and asked if I wanted one. I had exactly enough money left over from my summer job to afford the ticket and a shirt at the concert. Fate, I say!

Hopefully you still have the shirt.

I think it's funny they include "Altamont" in the legendary concert going experiences - because although surely it is legendary, and surely everyone who went to see it will remember it forever, it doesn't fall under the same umbrella of wonderfulness as the rest of their examples (Hannah Montana be damned). It's more a beacon of like "Hey, I was at the concert where everything good about the 60's was stabbed to death by the hell's angels."

Coincidentally, I'm reading Timothy Leary's 1983 autobiography and I just got to the '68 Convention fiasco.
I feel it was these two very public violent acts that broke HST's "high and beautiful wave."

My first-ever concert was not nearly so cool! Who opened?

From: [identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com
Jawbreaker & Mudhoney :D They were very good as well! I was very upset though, because up until two shows before mine, Bobcat Goldwaith was coming on stage to introduce the band and I thought that was amazingly cool.

P.S. It is official - I'm not getting comment notifications from this post and only this post. Every other post is fine :P

Wow. I would kill to have seen Nirvana.

I can't describe my jealousy. Nirvana was always my favorite band, but I never got to see them live and regret it much. (and sadly, my first ever concert was when I was a pubescent girl and I went to see pop group The Jets - it was a long road to Nirvana but so glad I got there).
