So, for most of my life, my eyes have been a sort of dull, medium brown color.  Around 1999, they started changing and I began to develop these odd green rings.  I've never been able to get a good picture of it until now:

Oh, God, I see the ring!

(Now is some freaky black-and-white chick going to crawl out of my television?)

Nope, but my eyeball might.

That's really cool.
Has your eye doctor (I'm assuming you visit one, since you wear glasses) offered any kind of explanation why that might happen?

What colour are your son's eyes? Does he have the ring?

I haven't been to an eye doctor in years and oddly I never thought to ask.

Ethan was born with slate-grey eyes but they quickly turned like mine when I was a kid, dark brown, but as he's gotten older, his eyes have changed much like mine:

The Parker Family Hazel Eye Shift, apparently :P

My eyes did just the same! When I was a kid they were nearly black and now they look nearly like yours.

Wow, how weird! I wonder if this is just a common aging thing. As you can see, my eyes used to be much darker when I was a wee lad:

Cute xD

This (http://pics.livejournal.com/chili_das_schaf/pic/0005t4zg) was my eye, hrm, three or four years ago I think.

And I looked like this when I was small:

Really weird.

My boyfriend's eye colour changes depending on the season - it's so WEIRD (and sounds pretty unbelievable, I know). In summer he has blond-y coloured hair and blue eyes and in winter they turn green and his hair is brown.

Oddly, mine don't change like that, though I know many people whose do. Mine have just been changing slowly over the past decade. Weird.

That means you have eye cancer.

Awesome. I hope it's the kind that eventually allows me to shoot laser beams from my eyes at will.

GRR! I was totally going to make an "at Will" joke but then I thought it was too early for bad puns. Apparently I was WRONG.

i noticed a grey/blue ring around my mexican mother's brown iris's recently and pointed it out to her. she read up on it and apparently it's just another symptom of aging.

Yup, I just read a whole bunch and I guess it's pretty common but a lot of people don't even notice :P

That sounds awesome. You should post them sometime. I love eyes with a lot of colors that almost can't be labeled.

My son's eyes were slate-grey when he was born but now they look a lot like mine.

Mine did the same thing about 7 years ago, (which would have made me about the same age actually). I've been used to having dark brown eyes, so the green definitely took me by surprise! So drat, an aging thing huh? Grrr.

My husband has what we call "rainbow eyes" (his opthalmologist started it). They change all the time but it doesn't seem related to anything. I've seen brown, hazel, gray, green and blue. His eye doc says only about 1 in 100,000 people have eyes that do that. Weird.

Yeah, the more I read, the more it seems to be a normal aging thing. Which is awesome. It's like grey hair for the iris.
