In case you didn't notice, I was gone but now I am back.  I had to spend five more days in the hospital because I had a lovely pleural effusion which made it difficult to breathe and gave me some very uncomfortable tachycardia.  The doctors drained a liter and a half of fluid from around my left lung and now I'm back to normal.  My pain levels from my initial surgery have drastically lowered as well, so I'm feeling pretty good now - the best I've felt since the surgery.

I feel hopelessy behind because I had to miss a day of classes plus two days of work while I was hospitalized, so now I'm playing catch-up.  I still haven't gotten my books because my financial aid hasn't come through yet, so I'm basically floating and praying that check arrives any day now.  My classes seem easy enough so far and it's not much of a challenge to bullshit my way through an abnormal psych class.  I even gave a nice little speech in my Intro to Lit class about why the "classics" are important to an understanding of literature and why they should not be abandoned by teachers who think that studying Stephen King is just as valid and enlightening as studying Mark Twain.

I have to go dig in the library for my Environmental Issues textbook and scan the chapter before my next class.  That is all.  As you were.

Sorry to hear you had a spot of trouble there, but glad to know you're feeling better again. I didn't know you were gone cause I was gone, too, though I was having much more fun!!!

I hope so. The advantage, I suppose, was that I was forced to be inactive and get a lot of rest for five more days, so I healed a lot more. And I got to watch Obama's acceptance speech, plus several other speeches from the Convention, so that was pretty awesome.

It's great to hear that you're feeling the best you have since the surgery. :)

Hopefully you get caught up pretty quickly- I dunno, you seem like a super capable person. The financial aid stuff sounds more like a fingers crossing situation. Best of luck!

The best the FA office could tell me was "sometime in the first, maybe second week of September." Not exactly helpful, but I did find two of my books on Amazon for less than $10 so those should be here soon. My Classical Mythology class has a quiz on the reading every single class, so that one I ordered first :P

Thanks!

*hugs* soft ones of course... I just thought you'd been away because you had said previously you were going to be busy with school and work, etc. I had no idea you were dealing with surgery stuff again. I'm quite glad you're back and seemingly doing well now.

Thanks. School hasn't gotten too crazy yet, but once I get my books, I'll be reading like a madman with no spare time for anything :P

Ack! I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope your financial aid kicks in; the last thing you need right now is more stress. :\

Thanks! I expect it any time now, but they are notoriously slow in the fall. My winter money is always on time :P

Wasn't there a pleural effusion on some episode of House? Now you are special. XD

That's what I thought - it's been mentioned several times but the most notable was Yoga Girl from the first episode of season three :)

Take care of yourself and be careful. This is where your son will take notice of your weakness and try to challenge the old man. You might have to burn him with lit cigars every couple of hours until you are back to 100%. Use the element of surprise to your advantage.

My God, you're right! I saw deviousness in his eyes! I shall not befall the fate of Oedipus' papa!

Bless your heart- literally!

Here's hoping that everything works itself out. In regards to the book situation, I made it through a whole semester without books in the same situation by borrowing someone else's and spending the day scanning until my eyes bled. The upside is that digital copies are way lighter!

Haha, thanks!

Everything seems to be settling in. A lot of my tests showed that my surgery was a success. My classes are not hard so far and I think I can squeeze by without my books for another week or so. It would be awesome if someone did that - posted scanned copies of text books online. Total copyright infringement, but god that would save a lot of money :)

Before I left for my surgery, I tried to make sure I'd done and said everything I didn't want undone and unsaid.

A) Thank you, me too.

B) It hasn't been too bad. Not a distraction at all so far.

Never :D

I am so glad you're feeling better now! I was pretty worried after your last post when you were over-doing things.

Yeah, a positive note about this last hospital stay is that it forced me to rest and do nothing for another 5 days, which has done wonders for my recovery. For instance, I can sleep laying down now and it doesn't destroy me :)

Good luck getting caught up. You deserve to be mad at the Universe for disrupting the start of your semester. I wish you the best.
