1. What is your hourly rate? 2. How many hours would it take you to design this?
(I need to ask both #1 and #2 because I have worked with people who are $50 per hour and charge me for 1.5 hours for something like this, and for people who are $22 per hour and would charge 6 to 7 hours for this work.)
I actually commission design work for an official organization every now and then. And I have personal needs. So let me know.
That is just the cover of a 6x12 folded-in-half flyer. I think it took me about three hours of playing around before I got it to a comfortable spot.
I don't really have an hourly rate, I've just charged friends a flat rate sort of based on size of the project. I suppose if I did the math... it would come out to around $15-20 an hour. I usually give discounts because I don't do it as a job, I've mostly done it just for some rave promoters I've been friends with and the occasional freelance job that's floated my way. Mostly it's an ego thing to see myself in print :)
From what other promoters have told me, my design prices are about half what most 'professionals' charge. If you want me to do anything, let me know, and I'll consider it :) Thanks. Your inquiry is a lovely vote of confidence.
Yeah, your rates are very, very good. I know the market.
I don't have anything on hand right now. (Well, I do, but it's a fancy invitation to a 60th anniversary celebration at work, and I already gave it to a friend). BUT, I think you could do some cool stuff for us.
Okay, I work at *ask your girlfriend for the name of the organization*. And I am the Vice Chair of the organization that runs all employee activities and our gift shop. I run activities, but I am more of a "board member" on the gift shop.
We pay for design work. We do stipulate that you sign over the copyright to us for future use.
What I am thinking is this. If you have a killer idea for a t-shirt design for my *unnamed organization*, do it up and I can advocate that we buy it from you for $75 or so. I'm suggesting this because I get the impression you like doing the design work. I can't officially commision you, but if you LIKE playing around with designs, I can advocate to buy anything you come up with.
If you are interested, email me at red at menaces dot net and I can send you some links to items that are typically "cool" in gift shops like the one we have.
Oh, and if there is an ego boost involved, well, just ask antarcticlust which organization I work for. If you sell to us, you can use the name as much as you want to tell people how cool you are.
