My first creative writing class was today. I think it will be okay. It's going to be a lot of writing, but then, I'd be surprised if it wasn't. It's also a lot of reading, but we only meet one day per week, so it's not like I don't have a ton of time. Okay, I don't have a ton of time either.

I've been trying to avoid the silly-season of politics right now. I skim the news. Watching the Republicans spar about who can be the biggest, dumbest, most heartless douchebag isn't something I'm very interested in watching right now. Whomever gets picked will suck ass and will have no chance of beating Obama. I'm way more curious to see what happens with the Tea Party in the House.

I have to write a 500 word short-short for my creative writing class for next Monday. I don't have a clue what I"m going to write. Plus, I have to have a 10-20 page short story written in three weeks.

Jacquelyn is reading the Michele Bachmann Wikipedia entry. I'm going to set my ears on fire.

I'm reading Richard III. I'm re-reading The Corrections. I'm re-listening to A Feast for Crows.

They're totally like the same thing.

Wikipedia? Well there is always the non-ear-burning choice of creative editing *evil grin*

Good luck on the short stories, usually when the deadline comes looming a muse will drop by, but once in a while they forget. May yours take the early train.

I think a Republican has a very likely chance of beating Obama next year. People are unhappy with the economy and life in general and the easiest person to blame is the person currently in power. Voters tend to have very short term memories- look at how many Republicans entered Congress last year.

I think that you definitely have a point there, however, I think after months of Obama's accomplishments being trumpeted during the election season and the lackluster Republican field, he will still pull out a win. The Tea Party (which are a very vocal minority) are pushing the Republicans farther and farther afield. There are no seemingly-moderate Republicans running right now, so Republican primary voters don't have a John McCain to run to. I think it'll be more like 1996 - no good Republicans versus a solid incumbent. The economy still sucks (though it's loads better than when O took office) but polls are still showing that people trust Dems and Obama more than Republicans on economic issues.

As far as Congress goes, I think the Tea Partiers are headed out. In national polls they are less popular than Muslims and atheists. 2010 was a fluke brought on by backlash over 2008 and low midterm voter turnout.

That's my two cents anyway.

If you ever need ideas for short-stories, come ask me. I'll just tell you some of the bizarre-but-sadly-very-true stories of my nearest and dearest. Will be sure to inspire even the most terminal of writer's block suffers. Pick a genre and I'll tell you a tragedy.
