While there is a certain element that subscribes to Randian ideals, I think it's a pretty tall order to label everyone on the political right as objectivists. Perhaps the populist, Know Nothing libertarian wing of the right is getting more weight these days, but I'm fairly confident that it'll sputter out like it always does. I mean, c'mon. Every notice the most ardent Randian followers seem to generally people from the groups she despised? There will be an articulate conservative that comes along and kills the cranks like Buckley killed the Birchers (and the Randians, too).

Honestly, the stupider these people get, the more amused I become. The only thing that makes me nervous is that unlike American left-wing idiots, these guys are armed.

No I haven't, but Paul's douchery speaks for himself in his own work. He took Christianity from the very hippie teachings of Jesus and made it the assholish, dogmatic, intolerant thing has been for most of its history. Offing him would be one of the most dramatic rewrites of Western civilization, imho.

Ayn Rand is completely fucked up. Her philosophy is extremely selfish and shortsighted. Reading her books was incredibly creepy.

You know, the other night I had a dream that we were doing book reports in school. I was completely panicked because I hadn't read my book and was frantically trying to think of a book to talk about while the other people were doing their presentation on a book called Ann Coulter is a Fucking Bitch.

I feel similarly about Ayn Rand and Ann Coulter, though I haven't read Coulter's book.
