Jacquelyn will probably murder me for posting these first, but I couldn't resist. We got a new cat. We had planned to get a kitten, since they adapt quickly and are readily accepted into established cat households. However, when Jacquelyn met this particular (two or three year old) cat, she fell in love right away.
We adopted him a little over a week ago. It's been a little more hectic than a kitten might have been, but the hissing and fighting has been gradually subsiding. Actually, it's mostly the girls who are still hissing. Loki has been pretty friendly. A few alpha-male knockabouts and that's it. So far, he doesn't leave our bedroom, but he's been making tepid excursions into Ethan's room and the bathroom, and even poked his head into the living room for a minute yesterday.
Our new cat was live-trapped in December and thought to be feral, but was quickly discovered to be friendly. No one claimed him, so they put him up for adoption. So for eight months or so, his shelter-name was Doyle, but as soon as Jacquelyn me him, she said, "His name is Holmes." (which we thought pretty appropriate considering the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle thing.) If we'd gotten to know him a bit better first, we may have named him Chaplin (he's quite slapstick when he's playing.)
So, yeah, a new member of our household. Mister Homes (who also answers to "Good Boy", so he must be, right.)

They're not the best pictures, but I wanted to introduce him to you all.
Oh yeah, we got a new bed too.
