The Year in Review!
Dec. 16th, 2008 09:23 amYou know the drill... first sentence/phrase in the first post of every month in 2008.
January: "The higher 'soul,' or higher faculty as I would prefer to say, has absolutely no value in itself. Many who have attained it have remained imbeciles or worse; some have 'graduated' to higher imbecility, or fanaticism."
February: Ennui.
March: "But it ain't my country." That line, toward the end of Cormac McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses just about slayed me.
April: Tuesday, April 1, 2008 @ Madison Area Technical College, Downtown Campus, 6th Floor
May: The semester is winding down and I've got several papers to write.
June: Church With the Red Door
July: As you may have noticed, I'm a bit obsessed with self-portraits. I have been accused of vanity, which is not it at all. Vanity is excessive pride in one's appearance, qualities, abilities, achievements, etc. I do not take pride in that sense in my appearance. In fact, I grew up as "the ugly kid" that no one liked.
August: It has been a few days since I returned home from Salt Lake. I am in general recover mode; cleaning wounds, taking pain meds, and discovering how much of a pain it is to not be able to lift anything over ten pounds.
September: In case you didn't notice, I was gone but now I am back. I had to spend five more days in the hospital because I had a lovely pleural effusion which made it difficult to breathe and gave me some very uncomfortable tachycardia.
October: According to the Hebrew Kabbalah, the name Sarah Palin enumerates to 666.
November: I should get some more pictures later, but here's a peek at my Hemingway costume.
December: Some of you expressed interest in reading this paper when it was finished, so I'm going to post it.
