Today I saw my subclavian veins.

So, I'm not sure if you people noticed, but there was recently an election - a pretty important one at that. I think I may have posted about it once or twice. You may not have noticed because you people are bastard people who just skim my entries. It's okay, I skim yours too. Or do I? [DRAMA STING!]
Anyway, I never got around to posting these pictures. One is of my polling place, which is a Boys & Girls Club.

Oddly, I went to a Friday-night rave there way back in 1997, four years before I moved to Madison. It was a terrible party and my alternator belt broke so my friends and I had to wait until the early hours of morning for my friend Brian to come rescue us. While I was on the pay phone talking to Brian at 3ish in the morning, a booze-stinking guy shuffled over to us and asked for some change. My friend Pierre said, "No, sorry, we don't have any change." The drunkard then shouted at us in a horrible, God-is-pissed-at-you, booming voice: "YOU USIN' THE PHONE, AIN'TCHYA?!" He wandered away and left us alone after that. We tried to sleep in the car until our planned rescue, but couldn't get comfortable. Later, when the McDonald's across the street opened, we went and got breakfast and Pierre found a bag of marijuana on the floor in the bathroom. It was a very strange night.
Who knew, that eleven years later, I would vote for change at the place I didn't have any change. Oh yeah, I went there. Go ahead and groan.
As if that place hasn't attracted enough oddity for you, as Jacquelyn and I were leaving after placing our historic votes, we saw the tallest voter in Madison approaching.

Call me cynical, but I don't think those are her real legs.
For an added bonus, here's a photo of Eris. Everyone likes photos of cute kittens, right?

I suppose, what would happen to the world if I didn't post one of myself:

Probably nothing much at all. I'm still having a lot of fun with this new gritty, old, filter.
Ethan went to his friend Agustin's house after school and is staying for dinner. Jacquelyn went to a talk with
brdgt , so I have the house to myself for a few hours. I should get some writing done. I spent another night editing what I have so far. Unfortunately, I feel I can't continue until what I have done so far is pretty right on. If I don't get the character and tone of the narration right now, I'll have to do major ugly edits when I'm finished.
I went to the dentist and vascular doctor today. My dentist loves me and says I am very lucky and have great teeth and is amazed that I don't get stains from coffee or tea. "You must be doing something right!" they said.
My vascular doctor is on vacation, but I saw his nurse practitioner and had an upper-extremity ultrasound done. I am at this point, apparently clot free and everything seems to be flowing the way it's supposed to. I have an appointment with my actual doctor next Wednesday and I think I'm going to push for a contrast MRI to make sure my bypass is functioning correctly.
I got an A/B on my literature midterm. I also directed a gender-bending scene from The Glass Menagerie. It was perfect.
I think that is all for now.

Date: 2008-11-19 11:29 pm (UTC)I have a friend who is Canadian but also obtained her American citizenship a couple of years ago and this was her first US presidential election. She went to the polling place in an Uncle Sam costume, I kid you not. I have a pic but I'll have to ask her if it is cool to share.

Date: 2008-11-20 01:30 pm (UTC)It's weird that your doctor is basically allowed to take you prisoner. I mean, it might be necessary sometimes (like with the fluid) but it's still pretty weird.

P.S. What would you like the author bio blurb on the dust jacket of your book to say?

Date: 2008-11-21 07:39 am (UTC)If you're editing during NaNoWriMo and still getting anywhere near a decent word count, color me jealous! Even with just slapping words on paper last year I couldn't even get close! (Yeah, I know how hard it is not to edit, so I don't blame ya for it!)
Congrats on the academic stuff. It has been forever and a day since I read the Glass Menagerie, what scene was it?
