Good evening everyone.

I am currently working on a flyer for the annual Labor Day weekend rave festival.  This year they've booked twenty headliners and a over 200 djs which means a huge flyer - 11" by 17", double fold.  It's pretty insane.  With the huge amount of info - I'm going very minimal on the design which is quite unlike me actually.  As usual they've given me two days to do it which means I get to charge more for the rush.  Just once I wish they'd get their shit together a month in advance.

I've devoured the last Harry Potter book and am already reading it again.  I usually do this - read it once at a breakneck pace to find out what happens and then read it immediately afterwards for a more detailed analysis and enjoyment.  I can't really complain about The Deathly Hallows.  Everything made sense and it felt whole and complete, regardless of what happens.  I will really miss having these to look forward to.

Jacquelyn, Ethan, and I went to see the Order of the Phoenix movie (Jacqui's firs time, my second and Ethan's third) and I was thinking of how I never had a really defining childhood media event.  No favorite movies or books, (though my father and uncle tell me that when I was three to four I loved Godzilla movies but I don't remember watching a single one) nothing that really gripped me until my teens and in a way I feel like Harry Potter as been a sort of second childhood for me - something I sorely missed out on the first time around.

I did really love The Peanut Butter Solution though.

It's been about five weeks since I started riding my bike to work.  With my new lovely odometer (birthday compliments of the coolest kids in town - [personal profile] brdgt & [profile] strangedasein) I've discovered that my one-way trip is about six-and-a-half miles.  That makes a lovely thirteen miles every day - bare minimum.  A trip to the grocery store and back is about two-and-a-quarter miles and a leisurely ride with Jacquelyn around Monona Bay is about six miles.  That means I may ride as much as twenty miles a day.  This week, from Sunday to Thursday, I did 73 miles, about the distance from Madison to Milwaukee.

On a final note, I'd best get back to work on the flyer.  That thing won't design itself and I can definitely use the moola.  I should send Ethan to bed, but I'm too happy he's started to read The Half-Blood Prince that I don't want to make him stop.

Until next time...

I'm excited about Deathly Hallows but I still haven't read Half-Blood Prince, so I have to wait on that. I've heard so many different spoilers but I'm hoping they're all BS.
It's cool that you're riding your bike to work. At least you're keeping fit, but isn't it so hot sometimes? It's been really hot & humid here lately and it gets hard to breathe when you're doing any activities outside.

I had HBP spoiled for me, but luckily I didn't believe it so it still came as a surprise :)

The bike riding gets damned hot, but I deal pretty well - and sit under the fan for a half hour after I get home. The weather here hasn't been too bad actually, except it's a bit of a drought so rain would be nice.

Hey, it's not the size of the ride but the... uh, motion of the ocean?

it's rare that i should comment rather than lurk, but you pulled me in with Harry Potter. i too, have just finished reading the last book a second time. i read quite the same way you do. "complete" is a good adjective to use in this case, and i too, will miss the moments spent with Harry. however, i'm hearing rumors that Ms. Rowling will be starting a new series, pulling from other characters in Harry's world. if it's true, we have that to look forward to.

p.s. as i went looking for an icon to use on this comment, it occured to me that most of the ones i currently have stored are from you. interesting.

What can I say, I am the Icon King :)

I'm not sure she'd ever make any more books in Harry's world, but we at least have two more movies to look forward to. I'm worried nothing will ever capture my attention the way these Potter books have. They are the only multiple-installment media event that has lived up to its potential and not disappointed me in the end.
