I finally have internet access after three days. I think this is the longest I've gone without checking email since the invention of the internet. It was like getting crucified and for three days there was no wireless signal to God. "Internet, why have you forsaken me?!"

Now I have been reborn and I will now preach a bit before I ascend to the great ISP in the sky.

Or not.

That flyer I did last week has to be redone. They added quite a few more DJs and now I have to rearrange everything and resize it to 6x9 or larger. Somehow I have to find the time to do this over the weekend when I'm supposed to be packing.

Yes, packing.

Because I am moving next weekend, thus this is the only time I have to pack. I have to be completely ready to move in exactly one week.

How did this sneak up on me so fast? And where am I going to get boxes?

The weather is beautiful and I have to pick up Ethan from school and buy some cat food.

Mundanity.

Apparently the UW website says I can register for classes and and they are unable to offer me enrollment.

I'm all about balancing opposite polarities, but this is ridiculous.

Do you have Public Storage (a company) in Wisconsin? If so, they sell boxes. I got a moving pack for around sixty bucks, which included tape and assorted box sizes.

Nope, but I think I can get boxes from a general rental place here. It used to be you could call the local grocery store and ask them to set some boxes aside for you but they don't do that now, I just discovered.

Shortly after I moved two years ago, a couple of my friends moved and I gave them my boxes. I just called them and they threw them out :P

I'm a moving fiend. I will get everything moved on Friday, be up half the night getting things in order and put away in the new place, sleep a few hours then get up, go buy a living room furniture set and a rug or two then get all that home, put more stuff away, hang pictures and set up other knicknacks, return the van and go home and when I finally fall asleep on Saturday night, everything will be in order and in place. And I will be dead to the world for three more days.

You mean after all that, we STILL won't be hanging out when we move in together? ;)

I guess we'll have to make regular stops at the localist coffee shop.

What do you mean by that?

Date: 2006-04-22 01:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antarcticlust.livejournal.com
1) You were talking about moving and then being dead to the world, so I felt like we wouldn't see one another.

2) You'll be not-sleeping, so we'll need coffee!

1) Dead to the world for three days, not FOREVER!

2) YAY!

1) I haven't gotten any nookie in way too long. So don't be surprised if you get taken advantage of in your sleep.

'Sides, you know I'm an instant gratification kinda girl. :)

2) Or tea and energy bars, which is prolly better for you. I might get a case of Red Bull for the weekend (the 4-pack kind). I know how you feel about that stuff. :)

And where am I going to get boxes?

welcome back! You want to get yourself over to the nearest Borders and beg and plead with whoever is there to let you take their left over boxes. THis is never a problem in my store, heck I don't even make them beg and plead! I just brought home about 50 for my house...

as a former Borders geek you might appreciate this. They have, for the north east, redesigned the BINC sticker. My store started getting some of the new ones in today -- it's weird but I like it.

Date: 2006-04-21 11:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antarcticlust.livejournal.com
Woah...I wonder what prompted that?

Does your store have Borders Rewards?

Date: 2006-04-21 11:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] mananath.livejournal.com
yeah that was rolled out nationally back in Feb. They opened a new DC in PA to serve the NE and with the new software comes a new BINC sticker. It will actually work out nicely as they can now mark the outside of boxes w/what is inside them. For example: "new books" or "gift & stationary". There are also 4 store selected codes, so we can say the kids section is #1 and all kids books will come in boxes marked number one so you can know right away what's inside before opening the boxes.

Smart! Now if they could just ship them without destroying them.

I won't be near a Borders this weekend. I thought I was going to have no problem whatsoever getting boxes but all my usualy sources have dried up :(

make a special trip in -- you should not have to pay for boxes especially as they can get pricey if you need a bunch!

I know we have moving companies here in Wisconsin- I've moved once, in fourth grade.

Then again, we moved without a company. *Shrugs*

Boxes: have you tried asking a store like Home Depot or True Value for their leftover boxes? Ususally, they'd just recycle those, anyway- why not see if they'll let you have them?

Yeah, I'm going to try some new places. I used to just get them from this grocery store in town, but I just called them and they don't save boxes for customers anymore.

From: [identity profile] oxy-irony.livejournal.com
Oh. *Ponders* I suppose it can't hurt to try some other places, too, though, eh?

Otherwise, you could buy yourself a lovely new fridge...

Don't you know you're supposed to spend several weeks in advance snooping around for boxes you can pillage?

Date: 2006-04-21 11:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com
I thought I had all my sources lined up!

The grocery store I usually get them from doesn't save boxes for customers anymore!

Friends who I gave boxes to when they moved threw them away instead of saving them!

My father's employer had OSHA issues and he can't go down to the part of the plant where the boxes are kept!

The cardboard fairies are on strike!

Are you sure? You have class. I'll be taking a load of my stuff first when leaving Watertown, then to your place to get your stuff, then you have class while I'll probably have to go get my second load (hopefully I'll get it all in one load.)

Ethan said that he wants to come and help, so I'm assuming he's coming but after the first boring hours, he might want to stay behind :P

I have class for a whopping hour, 12-1. That's it! I'm skipping out on Yi Fu Tuan. I'd skip class, too, but I skipped two weeks ago and today (because of Pat Bartlein being here).

Wow, moving and Jung at the same time, plus the 77 connection. If I was married and didn't know any better, I'd think you were my long-lost twin or one of my splinter personalities :P

I hope I do too. I can't stand the clutter of the freshly-moved. I plan to be almost completely settled in before I have to return to work on May 3rd.

I've always thought that it's obvious that we have many different "voices", different impluses, wants and desires, which sort of "argue" about what we should do. The idea of a solitary "I" always seemed to be a fallacy, except when I realized that the "I" that regulates and organizes all the other aspects is the soul, our divine spark and our true selves.
