jackshoegazer: (Political/Lacks Experience)

Sarah Palin called Henry Kissinger "naive."

Couric: You met yesterday with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who is for direct diplomacy with both Iran and Syria. Do you believe the U.S. should negotiate with leaders like President Assad and Ahmadinejad?

Palin: I think, with Ahmadinejad, personally, he is not one to negotiate with. You can't just sit down with him with no preconditions being met. Barack Obama is so off-base in his proclamation that he would meet with some of these leaders around our world who would seek to destroy America and that, and without preconditions being met. That's beyond naïve. And it's beyond bad judgment.

Couric: Are you saying Henry Kissinger …

Palin: It's dangerous.

Couric: … is naïve for supporting that?

I may not agree with Kissinger, and may even think he's a bastard (not in the literal sense of the word) who has in the long run done more harm than good for this country, but if there's one word that in no way describes him, it's "naive."

The latest news I've heard is that McCain is hinting that he may do the debate tonight.  I don't know how the news of the House Republicans walking out of the bailout negotiations will affect this, since getting this bailout through was his supposed reason for bailing on the debate in the first place.

"I'm very hopeful that we'll get enough of an agreement tomorrow so we can make this debate," McCain said Thursday on NBC's "Nightly News."

Obama tried to press McCain into showing up for the first of three scheduled debates between them, saying they should be able to handle the 90-minute forum and the financial crisis at the same time.

"Senator McCain has no need to be fearful about a debate," Obama told reporters. "He's a person of strong opinions and he's been expressing them on the campaign trail."

Since the Vice President is supposed to be able to fill the President's shoes if something happens then why don't we get Sarah Palin to fill in for McCain tonight?  Oh, my glorious Deity which resides in and creates all things, what I wouldn't give to see that!
