Damn you, Conor Oberst.
Jun. 30th, 2005 08:07 amI've been listening to Bright Eyes a lot lately. Damn you
kiwikat! Do you hear me? DAMN YOU! Oh, and I need to get more Bright Eyes from you. The one CD just isn't enough.
So today, I'm in love with this particular set of lyrics...
We must stare into a crystal ball and only see the past.
And in the caverns of tomorrow,
With just our flashlights and our love,
We must plunge, we must plunge, we must plunge.
And then we'll get down there to the very bottom of everything,
And we'll see it, we'll see it, we'll see it.
Oh my, morning's coming back,
The whole world's waking up.
His lyrics are embarrassingly personal and intimate, more tuned toward poetry rather than lyricism. He embodies a balance, poised on the edge of a sword, allowing me to feel both mirthful and mirthless in a single, swirling, simultaneous moment.
Damn you, Conor Oberst.
