Oh, the Suspense!
Oct. 17th, 2004 09:42 amAfter much procrastination, I bring you the exciting conclusion the Anna Saga.
After 60 or so hours of nervous anticipation, I finally got a reply to my declaration of emotional interest. I received a beautiful, four page letter in my mail folder, which left me laughing and smiling throughout. I will let the letter speak for itself.

"I want to get things down exactly as I mean them. However, if I fumble (as I most likely will do) I believe if anyone can understand just exactly what I'm trying to convey, that person is you... As corny as it sounds, I believe we may be kindred spirits. I love talking with you - it sounds vain, butin a weird way, it's almost like talking to myself, ot with a twin lost at birth (obviously not identical.) Quite frankly, I think you're the bomb (Jesus, now that sounds really vain considering what I just said.)... I love to read the words you put down on paper - you truly have a gift there, dear boy, and I'm not easily impressed... I get a real kick out of witty exchanges via the pen. You are the first person I've met with whom I share that. It's probably one of the reasons why I feel I can be open with you, why it feels as though we are already friends in the short time we've had to be... Who needs formal entertainment when there's a like-minded soul with a gift for gab in the room? Not me."

It goes on like that here and there, compliments and whatnot, how much fun we have together and wishes for future adventures... but this is the kicker right here:

"As you were conscientious enough to mention, I do have a boyfriend, a boyfriend whom I would no more hurt than cut off my own arm; he's my best friend. Obviously I cannot say with certainty what the future will bring for us, as there are no certainties in life. What I can tell you is that at this point we have both made a commitment. We're happy. He's good to me, and I fully intend to grant him that same respect... As much as I loathe to be one of those "let's just be friends" women, friendship is all I have to offer right now."

So that's that. It's more than I expected, but not as much as I'd hoped, but like I said, I was laughing and smiling through the whole letter. I have a wonderful friend, who I talk to regularly and exchange letter with and have the occasional outing and a great time with. Part of me is apt to point out that inthe description of her relationship with her boyfriend she never outright says she loves him, but I take that for granted, something needless to say. It's true that nothing can be known for certain and for the first time ever I feel completely free of the "lust of result" and am absolutely content with this deep friendship. More than anything, I think I was most relieved to find out that I'm not completely insane, that I didn't imagine the strong connection between us. I've got enough going on in my inner world that could be deemed 'crazy' without finding out that my outer world has gone insane too.
That's a long enough post, so I'll fill you in with the other non-Anna related areas of my life later on. Stay tuned, same fnord channel, same fnord time.
