Oct. 18th, 2004 04:17 pmIt's the afternoon, and everyone is sick. Damn the flu! My roommate Brian came home work early, sick as a dog, as they say. It was a half day, so the boys have been home since noon. I feel absolutely fine, except that my glands in my neck, just under the jaw, particularly on the left side, are swollen and painful. I'm sure once my body begins a full-on attack upon this breech of my immunological defenses, I will feel like complete garbage. In the meantime, Ethan is the only one in the house without an illness, and everyone's crabbiness is making him crabby. I was hoping to go with Kiwikat and her hubby to see Team America:World Police tonight, but due to everyone's sickness, including my own, I have chosen not to go. That sucks, as I love spending time with them, and seeing a movie which professes to lampoon the Left and the Right, well, I feel completely dejected. Oh well, at least I don't have to work tonight.
I can rest up a bit. I had planned to get some coffee with my friend Cathy later this evening, as she is a night-owl too, but she is flu-ridden as well, and I would feel silly sitting in a booth at the (only 24 hour) restaurant (in town) all by myself. Do not misinterpret, I have done such things, but I was deep into my brooding poet phase, so that was like a course requirement. Unless someone else rescues me, I fear coffee is not in my near future, and another night lost to the God of Boredom. Every time I get bored, I think if the quote, "There are millions of people who yearn for immortality who can't think of anything to do on a rainy Sunday afternoon." So effin' true. So I try to eliminate boredom from my vocabulary, and always have something to do. Which mean, no sacrifice to the God of Boredom, who's name is Lethargy, by the way, for I will find many things to do. I have a shirt to sew, movies to watch (I just picked up Transylvania 6-5000 on DVD!), Kiwikat's picture to finish )I just picked up the frame for it!) and a flyer to make for some friends who want to get college-age models to pose for 'sexy' pictures for them. Definitely not high on my list of priorities or interests, but I did say I'd do it, so damn my tendency to say Yes when asked for help!
Oh, and because of my rigid drawing schedule, I have not read a book in something like six weeks. That's like a damned world record for me. After I finish Kiwi's picture, Ethan has requested one, so his is next. I'm also thinking of doing one for a friend's birthday that's coming up soon, so at about two weeks per picture, I might not be reading anything until I have to read my co-author's latest edit of The Book. But THAT, I am excited about, and will definitely keep the God of Boredom at bay.
