Ah! Home, sweet home.

I've just gotten home after an extended stay at Jacquelyn's place in Madison. I haven't been home since Tuesday. By not commuting, I saved something like thirty dollars in gas money. Yes, that's the only reason I stayed in Madison. Of course it had nothing to do with Jacquelyn. Geez, you act like I like her and want to spend time with her or something. I don't know where you people get such crazy ideas.

Mostly, I missed my kitties. Who really aren't kitties anymore. Mr. Loki Peepers is four and Princess Eva Meew is three. Of course, my son is ten now. Damn, where does the time go?

Is the Universe, our world, matter, manifestation, are these things inherently evil and something to be escaped from or defeated? Or, does the Universe, etc..., exist for the purpose of expression and therefore not to be escaped from?

In my years of philosophical ponderings and studies, I've never really come across a transcendence of this particular duality. So many religions and spiritual traditions teach that the human soul is trapped in matter and we have to stop various wheels and escape back to our spiritual source, which seems to make manifestation evil. Yet others teach that things exist for the purposes of differentiation and the self-expression of the Universe, which would seem to make escaping from manifestation the metaphysical equivalent of walking out of your job during the dinner rush. How does one simultaneously remove oneself from attachment to existence while embracing it?

I think my laundry is done.

Snoogins.

[EDIT]
When confronted with an 'either/or' situation that appears unresolveable, choose 'and' instead.

I've always felt that, as beings of both matter and Light, we are given this physical nature of our dual beings to teach the Light something it cannot know. Since we will all return to Light eventually, taking with us these physical experiences, we are meant to embrace and learn as much as we can while still striving to understand things in the CONTEXT of Light, but not excaping to it. In other words, if that's something we are to know LATER, we're obviously supposed to know this (the physical) NOW. So much of the transcedence concept comes from the idea that there is a heirarchy of body and soul. In my mind, the two are one on this earth, though that comes from my experiences out in the natural world. I think we build shells to protect the physical beyond what we actually need, thereby severing our connection to Light and dilluting this experience. I think when we are in a balanced place, where Light and Body are in an honest dialogue, THEN we are manifesting the Lessons we are meant to take with us when we leave the corporeal behind. This is part of the reason I have stayed away from psychedelic substances for so long- I haven't felt that it was part of my Lesson this go around, but would distract me from this experience. Of course, these thoughts on materia versus anima could just be MY Lesson and not at all relevant to anyone else.

Thank you darling. That makes a lot of sense actually. Though we've never really compared them, it seems our cosmologies match quite well, quite comparable indeed!

I think we're quite overdue for an all-night conversation of metaphysical musing and philosophical philandering, accompanied by bad coffee and good pie (or good coffee and bad pie- I've never seemed to be able to find both in the same place...).

Uh, that would be "escaping," not "excaping." Damned x and s keys are so close together, and you can't edit comments and all. Right. Carry on.

Don't worry, I spell words wrong ALL the time :P Paradoxically, spell-check has made me a worse speller.

I lurve that one :) It solves so many problems. Too bad we live in dualist society.

Dualities are perfectly fine to START with, but the problem is that people forget to have a DIALOGUE, and without dialectics, well, dualities stay dualities and you never get to mix all the lovely colors.

I am a flawed crystal diffusing divine light.
I am an irregular obstruction in the path from unconsciousness to consciousness.
I am seeking to to remake myself into a pattern through which the infinite may more clearly shine.
I am learning the art of being an ordinary mortal.
I'm trying, damn it, I'm trying.

Nope! Snoogins is from Jay, of Jay & Silent Bob fame.

Ah, my dear, there is nothing new under the sun!

If you give them proper love and care your kitties will act like kitties for a LONG time. I have three from the same litter born at home on June 4, 1993 that STILL act like crazy kittens! Of course, there is a certain wisdom about them, but they are still super energetic and playful.

My cats are themselves. The definitely act different as they get older, and I enjoy that. Just like myself, I'm sort of looking forward to the aging process. I subscribe not to the cult of youth.

I find it pure hilarity that after a paragraph about philosophical thought you ended on Snoogins. For some reason from what I've read of your journal I never painted you as a Kevin Smith guy.

Haha, I luuurve Kevin Smith movies! I am at home in the high and low brow sections of comedy and Kevin does both very well :)
