"Severus, please..."
Does Dumbledore seem like the kind of person to beg for his life? NOOOO.
I think he was asking Snape to kill him so Malfoy didn't have to. All along, Dumbledore knew what Malfoy & Snape were up to, knew about the Vow and the murder plan. DUmbledore knew he was close to death and sacrificed himself to save, (and I hate to say this) Draco Malfoy.
When Hagrid heard Dumbly and Snape arguing, it was because Dumbledore was telling Snape that if it came down to it, he was to kill Dumbledore, rather than let Malfoy do it. Snape was arguing that there was no way he'd kill Dumbledore; that he'd rather die from breaking his Unbreakable Vow than use the Killing Curse on Dumbledore.
When Snape burst onto the scene on the Astronomy tower, Dumbledore said, "Severus, please..." He was asking for Snape to kill him, not begging for his life. So Snape kills Dumbledore. That's why Snape got so angry with Harry for calling him a coward, because he sacrifices everything to spy on Voldemort and he was forced to kill Dumbledore.
Which means that Snape is even MORE noble, because he was arguing NOT to kill Dumbledore, which means he would have died for breaking the Unbreakable Vow.
Snape is on the good side still, as much as I hate what he did. This is why he didn't attack Harry at the end, merely deflected his spells. Even while Harry is attacking him, he's giving Harry advice (don't speak your spells, close your mind.) Snape was even impressed that Harry had used one of Snape's own spells. (And I suspected the HBP was Snape as soon as it was revealed that the HBP was good at potions) This also explains why Snape knew the exact spell to reverse the damage done to Malfoy in the bathroom.
Snape is NOT a nice person, but he is a MASSIVE example of someone doing what's right no matter how hard it is. I think in Book 7, we're going to find out exactly what Snape did to get Dumbledore's trust, and it's going to be HUGE. I also think Snape may end up sacrificing himself later, quite possibly to save Harry. As much as I loated what he did, I think he was under orders for it the whole time.

This is the Snape that I see in the books. And that's why I like him so much as a character; he's complex.
I definitely think that Snape's going to die in the last book. Hopefully, he'll redeem himself and show that he's not totally evil, because I think there's tons of room left for interpretation.
I've heard someone reason that Dumbledore's "Severus, please..." was not him begging Snape to kill him OR Dumbledore begging Snape not to kill him, but rather Dumbledore begging "Severus, please don't let me be wrong about you." They argued that the Killing Curse, or any Unforgivable, takes real will behind it, so Snape has to be truly evil.
I guess we'll see in a couple years.
