Carbon Copy

When synchronicity says it’s time to go-
And I leave, berating myself
For indiscretions I’d never hide
And lancing open a boil,
With putrescence and turmoil
Festering inside.
I casually listen for the sign of the times-
Three numbers on a license plate
Reveal to me the secrets of life
The deepest mystery
A lamp of ancient history
And the gold amongst strife.
Painting paisley on the wall of my dream-
I listen closely for the sound of the end
A distant cacophony razing
The world to its knees,
Carbon rumble in the breeze
On and on, forever amazing.
