Weekend Update
Oct. 6th, 2004 09:51 amLet me see, let me see... I dreamt last night that I was at a hotel with a bunch of friends and while we were partying at the hotel, someone looked out the window and said, "Someone's stealing my car!" So we all run outside and there's two shady mafia-looking guys in the car trying to get away in the stolen car, and one of them pulls out a gun and points it at me, and I think, "Shit, he's gonna shoot me!" And he does. The bullet bursts through the windshield and flies through the air in slow motion and as the bullet is tearing through my innards, I first think, "I'm going to die," but then I say, "This isn't real," and I make the bullet and it's damage to my body vanish. I don't remember much after that, the car thieves got away and my friends went chasing them down in another car.
Last night I went to Kiwikat's. I met her hubby and their friend "Wiggles" - a silly high schooler - and I had a great time. Dinner (chicken stroganoff) was quite yummy, and I brought a bottle of Yellow Tail Chardonnay, which is always good. Kat showed me some of her paintings, which are magnificent. I'm totally green with envy at her artistic ability. I can't wait to get my painting! I know she already has an idea for it, but after seeing her style, I'm tempted to ask her to paint a scene from my story "Nothing is as Something Does" (available on my website, www.geocities.com/jeremy714p)
I've decided that Kat and Brian are definitely "my kind of Americans." We had a nice chat about how completely fucked this country is right now, and how it's most likely going to get worse, and how we should all get the F out of Dodge, as they say. That conversation solidified a theory that I've been formulating over the last year or so. It is this: ALL TRUE AMERICANS ARE EMBARRASSED TO BE AMERICANS RIGHT NOW. Anyone who values the beliefs of the Constitution, should be absolutely appalled at the state of this nation and what we are doing to the world community. When I travel out of this country, I'm donning a fake accent and pretending I'm from somewhere else until Amurikah, reverts back to being America. Brian was very bold and forward with his views, very well informed and intelligent. As I was leaving he said, "I usually don't talk that much, but I like to give people the brunt of my personality when I meet them." Which I thought humorous, because I remain semi-aloof when I first meet people so I can get the brunt of their personality. I certainly hope to spend more time with them before they disappear to France. Of course, I'll probably look them up when I get over there too.
Segue... It looks like I will be going to The Wisconsin Book Festival with Anna, a friend from work, on Saturday. I'm pretty excited, as I've never gotten to spend time with her outside of work, and our brief conversations at work, which get interrupted due to work, have always been enjoyable. We're both writers and avid readers, so I think we'll have a good time.
So that's it for now, I'm off to SleepyTime DreamLand, because I have to work at 7:30 pm, which leaves me little time in the aforementioned DreamLand.
Adieu'
