It's Tuesday, and you know what that means... yup, it's one day after Monday.
Jacquelyn is driving her little brother Josh to the airport right now, sending him back to Vermont. It was a good visit, everyone seemed to have a good time. Having an 18-year old around the house brought into focus exactly how grown-up Ethan is getting, especially since Ethan is taller than Josh. It is very strange to realize how much closer 18 is to 13 than to 31.
Josh loved the university tour, enjoyed a Badger football game, and joked that if he moved to Madison, it would be for the food, not the academics. Having a visitor kept our weekend packed full of activities, which isn't exactly rare, but there was a lot to do, even Sunday full of mini-golf, water-balloon wars, and late-night bowling ($12.50 per lane per hour, free shoes, unlimited people!) I bowled probably my best game ever - scoring a whopping 127 or something.
All that activity did come at a price - I am completely exhausted and can hardly pay attention in my classes. The absolute last thing I was in the mood to do today was to dissect a poem and write about how diction and syntax create persona. (Jesus, I can't effing type today. You have no idea how much I've abused this backspace key in the creation of this post.)
As I walked to school this morning, I ran into
heyfoureyes, whose first statement to me was that I look like I've lost a lot of weight. Oddly, my first thought was, "What? Do I look sick?!" but then immediately realized it was a compliment. It's definitely a sign I need a nap when even compliments seem criticisms.
I need to grab some lunch and read a chapter for mythology. Shite, and go to the bank. Maybe coffee. I also feel like saying GARBANZO!
Grrr.

Date: 2008-10-15 02:38 pm (UTC)It's funny that you would say that exactly, about three days ago I was thinking about this song I really like and there's a lyric about being "19 going on 30, or maybe she's really 30 now, it's hard to say" and I was thinking that when I bought that CD I was actually 19 and loved that lyric- and then I realized that I was 19 6 years ago and I'll be 30 in five years, so now I'm closer to 30 than I am to 19. What a weird thought.
Ethan seems more mature than Josh. Or at a minimum more outgoing. : )
Sounds like you need a day or two off to get some relaxation and solitude. Small chance of that, eh?
You do look noticibly thinner. It's good. : D
