While participating in the Self-Portraits in the Shitter Photography Experience™, I've had the camera out-and-about with me, so I've snapped a few photos. Here they are of a whole lot of things:

A small graffitied railroad bridge I pass on my bike ride to work.

The top of a former church.  Now it has a Subway sub shop in the basement.  Used to be a coffee house.  I also went to raves there back in the day.

Pretty self-explanatory.  It's a curb.

I'm not being unsafe.  I am stopped at a light.  This is what I see most of my working days.

This is a sign warning you that a rail is crossing the road.  The rail is only doing it because the chicken did it first.  Conformist.

You may have seen these before.  It's my legs and one shoe.

Yes, a whole series with my feet.  This is my feet on wood on stone.

This is my feet just on wood.

I pass these giant metal birdy-dudes on my way to work and back on my bicycle.

They're very detailed.  And big.  Did I mention that?  I like that their heads sort of make a heart shape.

The urban water fowl have returned.

They are very photogenic.  I love duck couples.

Last, but not least, the capitol building from the bottom of State St., which is going to be a construction mess all summer.

Thank you.  I hope you enjoyed my pictorial journey.

Look closer, we have both horizontal and vertical, both at the sides of the road and overhead. We have no idea where to look :P

Oh lordy! Madison reminds me of Virginia Beach. Damn confounded civil engineering. :D

Thanks. We have a LOT of ducks here. A couple years ago a whole family of them sat down and napped like a foot away from Jacquelyn & I while we had a picnic.

I wish I could see more of this area:
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y19/fnord777/Part%20Two/WeHaveGrafinWisconsin.jpg

Like what's to the left of it. It looks like a nice, semi-hidden, secluded place. But it might not actually be at all, and that would be disappointing. D:

Edit: Sigh. I think it is a curse. I will never be able to post a comment again without at least once editing it. D:

I took the picture standing on a bike path. It;s relatively secluded but you know, in a city. Behind me is a hill then a street then houses. Maybe I'll snap up a panorama for you.

That would be awesome, if you could. If it's any trouble, I wouldn't wish you to, but if it's an easy thing to do and is a location you find yourself regularly at, I would love to see a panorama. (:

I love the contrast of secluded parks in relatively busy cities. We have a really nice little park right by our house, with trees all around, and no one usually goes to it. There are two streets that run right by it, both of which generally have a good deal of cars on them, and there are also two schools nearby. One is an adult-education school, and the parking lot of that school is directly touching the little park, so there are TONS of people around when that school is in session. But when it's not, the park is so empty and quite and peaceful. I love it.

Aw. Yeah, definitely not what I had envisioned. I still think it might be enjoyable sitting by that little pond, though.

PS. I see you!

Actually, that's a small river that runs between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. You can see it here: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&q=200+S+Thornton+Ave,+Madison,+WI+53703,+USA&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&resnum=1&ct=title

Oh, wow. Shows how much I pay attention! For some reason, I thought it stopped right at the bridge, but I see now that it doesn't, heh.

Also, have you ever gone to either of those two lakes, or are they sort of private property?

There's private property around parts of them but a lot of the shore line is parks and whatnot. They're sort of the defining characteristic of Madison. Our capital is right at the center of the isthmus between the lakes.

I ride my bike up John Nolen Drive, along the edge of Lake Monona every day I ride uptown. It's insanely beautiful, especially in the mornings. I took these (and merged them messily :P yesterday morning...

Oh, wow, that is gorgeous. The water looks so soothing. I'm insanely envious. We've tried getting to some large lakes around here, but we always find that they're blocked off by houses or buildings. It's so frustrating.

Actually, I see multiple parks by each of those lakes, and they seem be in such a way where you could get right by the lakes. Have you been to those parks at all?

These are beautiful. And you do such a good job with coloring. Do you use Curves, or...?

Nope. I have a file with several preset layers on it that I use regularly. I basically set certain ones depending on the pictures and mess with saturation and brightness/contrast until I'm happy.
