School days.

School days are the best. I still have to get up early to get Ethan ready for school, but I have time to lounge, check my e-mail, make lunches, read my flist, eat a leisurely breakfast, and best of all, make a nice tall latte. I am so hooked on coffee this semester.

Which means I need to invest in Tic-Tacs to avoid coffee breath.

Sociology today was about socialization.  The two cases of unsocialized children that exist, both of them piss, shat, and masturbated whenever they felt like it.  They both never really learned language.  They eventually agreed to wear clothes and go to the bathroom.  I don't know if they ever stopped masturbating in public.

It really enforces the idea that what truly sets us aside from animals is memory - and culture is the direct result of remembering. Without the type of remembering we do, socialization would not be possible. While these two showed the ability to learn and remember, it is also obvious that they missed very important developmental stages in their socialization, and thus, never were able to fully adapt. (Plus, that girl had to be so insanely traumatized, so who knows what effect that had on her ability to learn later.)
