It's so true. It's just the trusting bit that's hard to reset, I think. We've talked about that, though. :)

This might be a good topic for reprogramming, eh?

What is it you need reprogramming? Fear of 33-cent snacks?

You're welcome. If it helps just one person, then it was worth the eight seconds it took to type it.

And here I thought every heartbreak brought me closer to being a paranoid, cynical asshole.

I think that's the alley that runs parallel to it, behind the porn shop and the discount barbeque ribs place.

What doesn't kill us turns to dust at sunrise leaving us to explain to the police and the insurance company why everyone is dead and the house is in shambles.

If heartbreak does that...then I must be close to unbreakable by now! ;)

That's the goal, I guess, though there's a million ways to get there :)

Given my recent experiences, I have to agree with you. I learned a lot this past summer and even though I felt like I was going to die, I came out feeling more like "myself" than I ever have.

It's always so hard to tell, because we get used to thinking of ourselves in terms of someone else, so when that breaks, we feel less than whole, and it takes time to figure out who we are again. It's never simple because we're always changed, never hte same person afterwards. Eventually, all the false halves will run out and like the O with the mIssing Piece, we will find ourselves whole.
