Judge Strikes Down Nebraska Gay Marriage Ban

WASHINGTON - In the first time that a federal judge has struck down a state constitutional provision limiting marriage to heterosexual couples, U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon on Thursday declared void a provision of the Nebraska constitution that defined marriage as only between a man and a woman and that banned same-sex civil unions, domestic partnerships and other similar relationships.

Bataillon declared in his ruling that under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Nebraska cannot ban same-sex marriages and civil unions.

Which means that more federal and state judges can use this as a precident for overturning or denying further right-restricting legislation from hate-mongering Bible-thumpers. I am only intolerant of intolerance. I only discriminate against discriminaters. I only hate haters.

It's barely 8am here and it's a great day already. I finally, after TEN WEEKS, got my car back, and it's (knock on wood) fixed and running beautifully. I daresay, it's even running smoother than when I bought it. I have a yummy everything bagel, just the right combination of texture & flavor and some vanilla chai tea with soy protein. I'm going to sleep very soon and look forward to my adventures in SleepyTimeDreamLand. Right now, even the spectre of financial desperation isn't spooking me off my high-horse.
