"It's a no-win argument - that business of what we're born with and what our environment does to us. And it's a boring argument, because it simplifies the mysteries that attend both our birth and our growth."
~John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany

Yes, it's getting better and better, though, when I'm sleepy, the extra historical bits get me even sleepier. But it's goooood.

I think I get teary eyed at least once a day from reading it, whether from happiness or sadness.

I'm only 150 pages in and it's really good so far. It took me a little bit to get used to the long historical set-up, but now that things are moving, it's great.

John Irving is brilliant.

I read A Prayer for Owen Meany when I was in my mid-twenties. While I felt like it was too much for me to really comprehend (do you know what I mean?), I was moved and changed and wept at its beauty. I can't imagine what it would be like to know you have given such gifts as he has given to the world.

I need to read it, again. Thanks, for reminding me.

I've never read him before; this is my first Irving. A lot of people have told me that I would love him and some have even said that the character development in my writing is reminiscent of Irving, so alas, I must read!

Plus it's good.
