i came home

we started late
with the death of dusk-
the bark of dawn,
with a kitty cat, two-hundred dollars,
and our shoes on.

we asked the questions freud would ask
if given half a chance-
and the answers given,
the truth begot
a fascinating vision.

we found a million places
to hide our pins,
our pricks and points-
imperfections in our armor,
where the light shines in.

we finished early
with twenty-one hours of illinois,
new york and storms.
i looked over with love in my mouth,
and said good morning.

then I woke up.
