jackshoegazer: (Jack/Work & Play)

Welcome to Sunday morning.

Ethan has grown two-and-a-quarter inches between April 1st and today. That means he's a crazifying half-an-inch taller than six-foot. I suppose we're always taller in the mornings, but he's a little worried. "I don't wan to be taller than you!" he says.

Friday night I went to [profile] kiwikat & [profile] shevus' for dinner. We played some MarioKart on the Wii and snuck in a game of Scrabble. Brian kicked our asses and I seriously played the worst game of my life. I just had the most terrible letter combinations the whole time. I had a blast, but at this point, laughing is still way too hard and is very painful, so I guess no fun for Jack!

Jacquelyn, who was meanwhile driving to Minnesota, called crying and my first thought was that she'd been in a car accident. He heart did that scary leaping/lurching thing and I could feel the adrenaline course through my body. So, when she told me she'd hit a raccoon, I was quite relieved. I know how much Jacquelyn loves animals and needlessly killing one is very traumatic. I feel horrible when it happens to me. Hell, I cried when I hit a raccoon that was already dead. I tried to comfort her over the phone, but I was so relieved she was safe that I don't think I did a good job.

I don't normally work Saturdays in the summer, but it was the Great Taste of the Midwest and my company scheduled basically everyone. The Great Taste is a giant beer festival, so yes, a lot of drunk people and beer enthusiasts.  It was a pretty busy day and by the end of it, I was incredibly sore and exhausted.  Unfortunately this meant I was unable to attend [personal profile] brdgt's barbecue for which I was very sad.  I basically spent the night medicated on Vicodin, watching Jumper and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

This morning I was still feeling pretty sore, but much better.  It's going to be an awesome day, a high of 73 or so, and thus I am going to go for a nice walk, check out the garden, do some errands, like the library and the post office.  Jacquelyn should be home tomorrow, which will be nice.  As much as I hate to admit it, I miss her when she's gone.  (You know, because missing implies neediness and neediness is ugly and I am a manly-man who needs nothing and no one.  I am a rock! An island!  I do not suffer the whims of emotions!  I don't need anyone!)

Hehe, okay, enough silliness, I have to see if I can make omelets in my injured state.

I bet it's a weird thing when your kid outgrows you. When/if mine do I think I'll be obligated to kick them in the shins.

It's okay that you lost, we know you haven't much of a head for words. ; )

My thoughts on the raccoon are similar. At first it sounded like a car crash and I was in "OHSHIT" mode but then it was a raccoon. Which is still awful but better than being stranded or hurt.

If you'd like to hang at some point today I'm probably free for at least later afternoon/evening. I'm about to go meet Kara on State but that's only until 2 or so.

Yeah, it's odd. He's so TALL. OMG MAYBE HE CAN PLAY BASKETBALL AND BE FAMOUS AND RICH OMG!

I'm going to continue to take it easy today with the exception of a little walk to the library. (I just remembered it's Sunday and thus the post office would be pointless.) Then I have to go check out the garden in the evening, so I think I'll take a pass on hanging out today. Unless you wanna get dirty helping Ethan and I weed the garden? Don't feel obligated and I don't know how much I'll get done since my movement is pretty limited.

MAYBE SO! DID YOU KNOW THAT 99.9% OF TALL PEOPLE ARE IN THE NBA?!?

Sounds good to me. I'll see how I'm feeling after state street, maybe I'd help you weed. I'll call after and let you know.

THE OTHER .1% ARE WEATHERMEN AND PROFESSIONAL LIGHTBULB CHANGERS!

Cool.

I wish I could get a gig like that but I'm only 5 foot 8 and I can't handle four inch hells. Those professional lightbulb changers get alllll the ladies.

Heels not hells. Although hells works too, in a way.

You should join [livejournal.com profile] musicfortummies. People post songs that they love, are inspired by, etc, so it's a great place to find new music and share music.

Done! They even already approved me, so apparently I seem legit.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to catch up this weekend. All you've been through I can certainly understand. We did see the heap of cabs parked down by the lake by the way. Should have guessed you'd be stuck down there. Next time I'll try to make it a more extended stay.

I should have called you and we could have done breakfast or something. I'm sure we'll be in touch and get caught up another time. I'm sorry I missed you! I hope you at least had a good time even though I wasn't there :D
