It reminds me of an old Big Train (British comedy series) sketch that had an American general talking over video footage of strategic bombings, making explosion noises and saying things like "I can't do the accent but it's like - 'Ohh God, help me! My leg's come off, somebody find it! Get a nurse!'". And humming the theme from Platoon.
