My long, hard slog through academia continues.

I filled out my FAFSA and registered for my fall classes today.  I'm upping the ante in this education gamble and registered full-time, thirteen credits.  I'll still be working thirty hours per week, so we can pray that I can pull this off and maintain my four-point-oh.  My fall schedule will be as thus:

  8:00-9:15.....Abnormal Psychology
9:30-10:45.....Intro to Literature
12:30-1:45.....Classical Mythology
  2:30-4:20.....Environmental Issues

I am simultaneously excited and horrified.

Your courses sound interesting. I hope you enjoy them and find the information useful! :-)

Now might be a good time to try the Martha Stewart Power-Nap method of sleep substitution.

Those sound muy bitchin'

I have a feeling that abnormal psych will help you in regards to your taxi driving. It will actually help you in areas that you least expect it to help. Same goes for Classical Mythology (but you already seem to have a pretty good grips on both anyways)

[identity profile] seeitbloom.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, goodness. Good luck with that.

[identity profile] sophy.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Fun classes!

[identity profile] celestialgldfsh.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Those do look like great classes, but then, I'm a super-geek who loved college!

[identity profile] protodisco.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
intro to lit will be the most frustrating class you will ever take.

[identity profile] carrieaki.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds very exciting!!!!!
Abnormal psych was one of my favorite classes.

[identity profile] feather.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. You'll be one busy shoegazer! You can do it. :D

[identity profile] symwyse.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
Abnormal Psychology was a favorite of mine, but I had to drop it because I spent more time trying to diagnose myself than getting any work done :P

Classical Mythology sounds like fun!

[identity profile] brdgt.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You're gonna rock all of those!

(pssst... can you find the link to that "manifesto" you were telling me about?)

[identity profile] karamiatx.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh your course load sounds fabulous! Sounds much like the course load I'll be needing for next spring. Only, replace enviromental issues with Genetics, and Classical mythology with Evolution. Though I'm sure I'll end up taking the mythology course at some point too. It may take me 40 years to graduate, but I'll enjoy the next couple of semesters at least!

Good luck with the full load coupled with the full time hours. Does your job allow you to study any while at work? I've just almost landed a perfect job that pays better than were I am, is about a block from my house so basically cuts out my gas fund from my monthly expenses, has benifits (where i am now does not) and I'm basically just baby sitting a switchboard and telephone while I'm there. They provide me with a computer and actually encourage homework while you are there. I really hope that works out.

Oh, and keep us posted on your Ab. pysch class. I've heard its one of the best, right behind human sexuality.

♥Kara

Thanks! Two of my teachers in the fall will be teachers I had last semester, one of which is the English teacher that loved my writing, so that's good :)

Here's that "manifesto" I believe you're looking for: http://users.livejournal.com/_allecto_/34718.html

[identity profile] brdgt.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no - I'm looking for the "nice guy" one!

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah,.. let me see... Ah yes, I believe this is it: http://divalion.livejournal.com/163615.html

I'm a huge psychology fan as it is, so I'm sure you'll hear a lot about it. Unlike my into.psych class, I'm sure I'll actually learn something from this one :P

My job is driving taxi, so unfortunately, no homework time. I'll have Wednesdays and Sundays to do homework, so hopefully that will be enough.

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm already quite acquainted with my psychological issues (spent several years living with an alchemical mirror dissecing and breaking down our personalities and identifying all the complexes) so I think I'll be okay. I know I'm a mild schizotypal with a heavy load of narcissism :P

I'm dreadfully rusty with my mythology, so I'm quite excited about that one :)

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, I hope so. If I get too overwhelmed, I can always use my God-like powers to add an extra day to the week. Right?

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty excited. Me lurveth psychology!

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I figured as much. Luckily it's with the English teacher who loved me last semester. I can churn up a big load of BS :)

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a knowledge junkie so this works out quite well. I hate knowing that I don't know something :P

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so!

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It should be fun, if not hectic :P

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've spent a lot of time studying both already. :) I'm pretty excited to get them in more formal formats since my studies have been self-guided and thus uneven.

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I used up all my sleepless nights as a raver. I need my 6.5 hours to function now.

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-11 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

[identity profile] 3starsinmyeyes.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so jealous, you are taking Abnormal Psychology!

I can't wait to take that class :)

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Should be a good one - as long as it's not taught by the same guy who taught my Intro class. That guy was a bag of ass.

[identity profile] katachthonios.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
You... were a raver? How odd. I never would have guessed.

I'm reaching the point where I relate to Bill Hicks's mantra: "I need eight hours of sleep a day. And ten at night."

[identity profile] feather.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Of course... of course.

*pats head*

I think it's going to be a long semester. ;)

I routinely redefine outer self.

I was also a grunge rocker before that:

if it's with an english teacher who loved you then they should realize that you're, like, wayyyyy above an intro to lit course and should probably give you an A if you phone it in. or do nothing at all.

just be prepared for a lot of really surface level work meant for people who are only taking the course as a requirement and have no interest in lit.

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-12 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I figure it will be a good bit of forcing me to red classic works since I am lacking in that department :P

Good luck my friend!

[identity profile] angeofleak.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Last semester I was enrolled full time as well. I work full time at an ad agency and was taking the same amount of credits. I am surprised I passed. Statistics was the biggest bitch-beast in the world. Now, it's summer and I just realized I'm in "full time" again! Psh, damn me.

Re: Good luck my friend!

[identity profile] jackshoegazer.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, hopefully you've learned how to balance better this time. This might be the semester when I discover what "too much" is :P
